With just having had a baby and being busy back to work, a birthday party was nowhere on my list of things to do. My husband must have known, which is why he secretly asked my close friends and family to come over for a party and then told me about it a week in advance – he knew it would be too late to cancel, but early enough that I could have a hand in the planning (smart guy).

I’d like to thank Corky’s Catering,Cork Catering, and Courageous Bakery & Cafe for providing delicious food and treats for the party.

Planning a party doesn’t have to be a huge stress. I recommend ordering food from a local, trusted caterer – Corky’s Catering helped me choose my menu, delivered food prior to the party that not only was a beautiful presentation but left my guests raving about it to this day. Also, everyone loves cupcakes, but when you’re hosting a party at your house, the mess of baking and the promise of something beautiful will usually go awry. Courageous Bakery matched my floral-themed party with gorgeous cupcakes that enhanced my decor.

My 30th birthday party

The Setup

Since people tend to congregate in the kitchen naturally at parties, I decided to setup the main table in our front living room to encourage people to float around the party.

I intended to have the party outside, but the weather didn’t permit; I brought the outside in with lots of flowers and a DIY greenery backdrop.

The food

Cork came up with the perfect menu: Caprese skewers with the most delicious balsamic reduction, gourmet sandwiches, including roasted turkey, chipotle chicken, roast beef and white cheddar, and caprese sandwiches, a fruit and cheese tray, and a vegetable platter.

The drinks & treats

Courageous Bakery sent beautiful floral cupcakes that added to the flowery decor. At the drink station featuring lemonade, fruit-infused water, and rose lemonade, I added rock candy stirrers – can you say YUMMY??!!
