If you know me, you may already know my love for the Rosebud Perfume Co. from my posts on my Everyday Skin Routine and Faking Pregnancy Radiance. Rosebud’s products, especially the Rosebud Lip Balm in Minted Rose, is commonly known as a cult-classic and boasts the highest ratings on Sephora and Amazon.

This family-owned business dates back to Maryland in 1902 when Dr. Smith, a teacher turned pharmacist, started the company in a small drugstore where he prepared a popular salve. This specially-formulated salve, the Rosebud Salve, has many purposes: curing minor skin infections, soothing the sting of minor burns, healing chapped lips, dry elbows, and cuticles and is even a great remedy for diaper rash. You can see the unique and charming old school pharmacy inspiration in the adorable, apothecary-esque tin packaging of the balms, which I completely adore. Imagine my delight to receive three Rosebud Salves in a Tube in a large signature tin!

Rosebud Salve in a Tube

I tried three flavors of the Rosebud Salve in a Tube: mocha rose, strawberry, and rosebud. Here are my thoughts:

Scents:

Mocha Rose: this salve has a definitive sweet vanilla, chocolate aroma. Reminds me of a yummy mocha drink from Starbucks.

Strawberry: this salve is reminiscent of that strawberry hard candy that makes your mouth salivate and it also reminds me of an Amaretto Stone Sour…but strawberry flavored.

Rosebud: the classic rose scent is subtle and will make you smile. Guaranteed.

On Lips:

Each of these salves has a soft hint of color. I like to wear them alone for a ‘natural- but – 10 – times – better – than – natural look’ – they bring out the rosy color of your lips and provide a faint sheen. Since they’re sheer enough, they also look great over any lipstick color. Probably my favorite part is the overall feeling they leave on your lips – perfectly moisturized with absolutely no stickiness. You’ll want to keep rubbing your lips together (just like I’m doing right now as I write this post!). There is no unpleasant residue leftover on your lips like some balms and glosses, it’s incredibly soothing, and leaves just the right amount of moisture and coverage.

Multi-Use:

While I previously listed multiple uses for this magical salve, I have personally used my salves for the following:

– rubbing onto my dry cuticles: it makes them hydrated, healthier, and appear nicer.

– flyaways: I squeeze a small amount on my finger, rub between a few of my fingers, and softly smooth over frizzy, stray hairs. SUCH a lifesaver.

– tame eyebrows: you may know that I’m growing out my eyebrows from my post on How to Grow Your Eyebrows. I use a small dab of the mocha or rosebud salve and smooth it over my brows as an alternative to gel. I feel like it also makes my brows healthier and conditioned, an added bonus.

Overall, you will feel special, prettier, and more feminine while wearing these products. The scents and sheen are lovely yet not overpowering, and their multiple purposes will make you want to have a salve in every purse, at work, and in your car. Though the classic tin minted rosebud will always have my heart, I can’t wait to try their other scents!

Have you used any Smith’s Rosebud Co. products or do you want to now? What do you love about them? What are your go-to lip balms?
